This policy explains what data Eqtepas collects, why, where it is stored, with whom it is shared, and how to delete it. It applies to eqtepas.net, the web app, the browser extension, and the mobile app.

1. Data we collect

Account data. When you create an account we collect your email address and name, and your password stored as a one-way hash that we cannot read. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive only your name, email, and profile picture. A profile picture is optional if you upload one yourself.

Content you create. We store the quotations you capture as text and images, the PDF files you upload to your cloud library, reference data such as title, author, publisher, year, and citations, the collections, tags, research papers, and notes you write, and the title and URL of the page you quoted from so they appear as the quotation's source.

Technical data. We keep usage counters — such as monthly text-extraction and export counts — to enforce plan limits, and temporary server logs containing the IP address and request time for diagnostics and abuse protection. Your browser stores your session token and preferences (language, reading mode) locally. Our public website uses a visit-measurement (analytics) tool to understand which pages are most used; it may set cookies for this purpose.

2. How we use your data

We use your data solely to operate the service: saving your quotations and library and showing them to you across your devices, extracting text from the images you submit and building reference data, enforcing plan limits and processing your subscription, contacting you about your account (password recovery, subscription notices), and protecting the service from abuse and automated misuse.

3. Sharing with third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Like any cloud service, we rely on specialized service providers that process specific pieces of data on our behalf, only to the extent needed to run the service, and they are bound not to use it for any other purpose.

Images you ask to extract text from are processed by an optical character recognition (OCR) service solely to convert them to text; text extracted from reference pages is processed by a language processing service to turn it into reference fields and citations; your quotation images and files are kept with a cloud storage provider; and our servers and database are hosted with a cloud infrastructure provider.

Payments are handled by a licensed payment processor that receives your email address and the subscription amount. Your card details never pass through our servers — they are entered directly on the processor's secure payment page, and we receive only the transaction ID and its result.

Google sign-in: if you choose it, we receive your name, email, and picture under the email profile scopes only, and we request no other access to your account.

We may also disclose your data where required by law or a binding court order.

4. Where your data is stored

Our servers, database, and your files are hosted with cloud infrastructure providers within the European Union, and the images and text described above may be processed by our processing providers on servers outside your country of residence.

5. What the browser extension sends, specifically

The extension runs inside your browser and sends nothing to our servers except upon an explicit action by you: when you save a quotation it sends the text or image you selected together with the page title and URL; when you request text extraction it sends the snippet image you chose; when you request reference extraction it sends the page images you marked; and when you sign in it sends your email and password, or your sign-in token.

The extension needs access to pages only to display the quotation button and selection tools inside your browser. That access is local to your device: no content leaves your browser until you press the save or extract button.

6. Retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Deleting a quotation or book inside the app also deletes its files from storage. To permanently delete your account and everything in it, email us from the account's address at 0eqtepas0@gmail.com and we will complete the deletion within 30 days; deletion is permanent and irreversible. Server logs are deleted automatically after a short period, and we may retain billing records for as long as accounting regulations require.

7. Your rights

You may access and export your data, correct what is inaccurate, delete your account and data, and withdraw your consent to processing by closing your account. To exercise any of these, contact us at 0eqtepas0@gmail.com.

8. Security

All connections are encrypted with HTTPS, passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and access to your stored files goes through expiring links tied to your account. No system is absolutely secure: we apply what is technically reasonable, but cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The service is not directed at anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn of a child's account, we delete it.

10. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your country of residence as described above. By using the service you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We change the "last updated" date at the top of the page and notify you in the app of any material change in what we collect or with whom we share it.
